Doctor Doctor give me the news....Your thyroid is improving!

Doctor ! Doctor! Give me the News!

Well finally after a few weeks I went in to see my doctor to get a print out of the results of my cholesterol levels. As mentioned in my previous posts my cholesterol levels dropped from 6.2 down to 5.1 in approximately 8 weeks. What I was not expecting was that also my thyroid levels had gone up, in other words my medication was too high.

Ive been on thyroxine now to about 4 years and have always been on 150mg and its never changed and today the doc asked me to drop down to 125mg and come back in 2 months. Well I was over the moon, I've always wanted to lower my levels and have tried just about everything to achieve this with no success until now.

What an amazing difference I have seen in the past 2 months. Not only are my energy levels high, I sleep amazingly well and all through the night now which I haven't been able to do since the birth of my daughter 2 years ago. Ive suffered with back pain all my life even as a kid, and now I currently have no back pain. My memory has improved and I'm far more alert. Life has just gotten so much more better.

Here are the results from the doc on my cholesterol

As you can see they were very high the last 2 years. I took cholesterol lowering medication prior to the 25/05/2011 however that stuff is just so bad for you and it killed my libido! I went off it after that and my levels went up again. After the results from 12/01/2012 i decided to try cutting out all the wrong foods and began a healthy way of living incorporating some exercise but it just didn't cut it.

As you can see my HDL went up 0.1 and my triglycerides went down along with my LDL cholesterol placing me in a much better place than before. I'm interested to see how these levels are next time I go in. But more importantly I'm excited to see some progress on the thyroid front.

My next mission now is to work towards maintaining a healthy exercise routine and my family needs it as well.

To good health and longevity!

Anyone else have any similar stories?

Cholesterol Levels Dropped from 6.2 to 5.1 in 8 Weeks!

Well the results are back!

Today I received my results from my blood test.

You may remember my post two weeks ago:-
Hashimotos and the Start of my Health Journey

Approximately 8 weeks ago I took my regular 3 monthly check up with the doctor to check my TSH levels and monitor my cholesterol levels. After the blood test that followed my TSH levels were as normal but my cholesterol levels were sky high.

I hit a crazy 6.2 and certainly was not expecting that at all. I'm 34 with a young family so the thought of having a high cholesterol level and putting myself at risk of heart disease was a shock. Ive had generally high levels for a while due to my thyroid and the medication but never 6.2.

My doctor gave me a script for cholesterol medication and told me that dieting and exercise wont make any significant difference to my levels and that I need to take the medication.

All this news came at about the time that I started using a new nutritional porduct and I had heard that people had reduced their cholesterol levels using this method so I thought, no, I wont take the medication and I'll give the product a try and see how I go.

Well I had hoped for a drop in my levels but not as low as this.

I dropped from 6.2 to 5.1. A full point!

I was on cloud nine and even the nurse who gave me the results said to me "what are you doing".

I cant wait to see my doctor next time to give her the full story. Its a great feeling when you can prove your doctor wrong and have the tests to prove it. Fantastic!

I shared my news with my father who is also using the same products and he mentioned that his doctor cut his cholesterol medication down as well due to his levels dropping significantly.

Great news all round.

Now im looking forward to seeing further improvements to my health, hopefully a posative change to my thyroid!

I wonder if it will make me commit to exercise lol.

Our Food! Toxic and Nutritionally Bankrupt!

Did you know that our current food has far less nutrient content as it did 50 or so years ago?

In some cases our foods, that being our fruits and vegetables, have nutrient levels 5, 10, 20 sometimes 50 times less nutritional value as food did back in the 50's.

As a result of large scale agriculture we have a problem called the "dilution effect". What this means is that our soils are fast becoming more and more nutrient deficient.

Combined with the hybridisation of many food crops for the benefit of production and profit we end up with more and more food that, although might look good, in fact is actually "nutritionally bankrupt!"

For instance, to compare the nutrient levels from 1 plate of spinach from the 1950s to today, you will need about 40+ plates.

What is concerning about this issue is that, it all starts in the soil and is working its way up the food chain and unfortunately ends up with us.

Our fruits and vegetables are grown with artificial fertilisers, sprayed with herbicides and pesticides and then we often pick some things green and unripened. To add to this concoction we rinse, spray, gas, wax them in more toxic chemicals so they last the journey half way around the world so we get them in perfect condition and to top it off, most countries fumigate their imported foods with methyl bromide which not only is toxic but has a severe effect on the ozone layer.

You can wash your veggies all you like but most chemical residues reside in the flesh and skins and they ain't coming out. They then enter the food cycle and into our bodies. Testing done reveals that the levels of these chemicals are safe for human consumption but if you combine that with everything else we are eating and exposed to, you end up with one giant chemical concoction.

Add years of consuption to this and you have one very overloaded system. Our bodies are well equipped to detoxify themselves however they cannot cope with the burden of these toxins at these levels, and an overloaded run down system will struggle even more . Enter disease, immune deficiency, and illness of every kind.

I don't care what anyone says, no chemicals are safe to eat.

When are we going to wake up and realise that this is killing us! and effecting our generations to follow.

So what can we do about it?

  • Where and if possible grow your own!

  • Buy local and ethically grown produce and/or organic!

  • Get involved in a community garden!

  • Boycott imported foods and those from questionable sources!

  • Catch up on what you miss out on with good supplementation!

  • and always, ash your fruit and veg

Remember "you are what you eat" so make it your aim to find out where your food comes from!
